二、常用句型 Common Phrases

We’ve all gone through one of those days when nothing goes right. Heck, you might even be having one right now. It’s definitely human nature to complain about our shortcomings and problems; however, being too whiny in the workplace may reflect badly on your character. If you need to let it out, do it in a way that won’t have too much of a negative impact on the office vibe.

我們都經歷過不好過的時光和事事不順心的時刻。哎!現在的你可能也正在那個低潮中。抱怨自身的缺點和問題絕對是人類的天性,但是在工作場合中,過分得發牢騷可能會對你的形象和性格造成負面的影響。若你需要好好發洩抱怨,記得以不會對辦公室氛圍造成太大負面情緒的方式進行唷!

to have had better days (phrs. v.)

This is a light way of saying the day just isn’t going as well as one had hoped without sounding too frustrated.

這是一個簡短且較委婉的說法,表明當天的進展不如預期的那樣。

to be snowed under (phrs. v.)

When you feel snowed under, it means that everything is weighing down on you and you can’t move. It’s similar to feeling overwhelmed.

這句話的意思是指,許多事情或煩惱正壓著你,就像被困在雪中動彈不得的感覺。「To be snowed under」跟「overwhelmed」有異曲同工之妙的相似感唷。

to have a bad hair day (phrs. v.)

This one can be interpreted in two ways: 1) literally, and 2) figuratively. In the literal form, it means your hair is a hot mess. Figuratively, it just means you’re having a bad day.

這句話有兩種解釋的方式,第一種是字面上直接意思,指的是你的頭髮相當凌亂。而第二種則是比喻性表達,指的是諸事不順的一天

to wake up on the wrong side of the bed (phrs. v.)

Waking up on the wrong side of the bed means you started off your day on the wrong end of the spectrum. It’s usually used to describe someone who woke up with a temper or grumpy.

這句話指的是你在負面那一端開啟了你的一天。通常是形容一個人從起床那刻就脾氣相當暴躁。

a royal mess (n.)

When something is described as a royal mess, it means the situation is so chaotic that it’s epic.

當事情的情況已經混亂到史詩級的程度時,可以使用「royal mess」來形容。

a day from hell (phrs.)

To say a day has been like a day from hell is like saying the day is going so bad that it’s like hell. This one should be used with caution since it is a very strong statement.07

這句話可以用來形容,這一天已經糟糕到彷彿像是從地獄走一遭的程度。使用這句話的時候,通常語氣強烈並帶有著警告的抱怨意味,因此應謹慎使用。
