很多時候,我們常常習慣把一些口語的中文直接翻譯成英文說出口,但往往十次有九次的直譯是錯的!若是在日常生活中用到,或許還不會造成太大的後果,但若是用在職場上,反而會讓人覺得你是否是在不耐煩甚至有可能會讓人覺得你態度不佳喔!本篇文章幫你整理出,那些不能使用的職場英文句子,快接下去看,不要再被人誤會為沒禮貌了!

一、職場英文:I know! 無意間的誤會 The Unintended Miscommunication

How can such an innocent phrase sound so wrong? As mentioned in one of the previous posts, intonation makes a huge difference to the meaning of what you say in English.
這樣一個安全的句子能發生什麼事呢?正如前一篇文章裡所說明的一樣,講英文的時候,不同的語氣會影響你想表達的含意喔。
Imagine this: you’re currently preoccupied with something, or you’ve got something on your mind. A colleague of yours or a senior at work dropped by to remind you of a meeting later. Combined with your facial expression, here are a few of the possible (but not all) ways your innocent ‘I know’ can be misinterpreted:
想像一下:你現正專注於某件事情,抑或你腦袋無法裝下其他東西的時候。就在這時,你的同事或上司經過你的座位,順便提醒你待會有會議。這時你的一些面部表情以及語氣很可能讓你那句無害的話被曲解為以下幾種意思:
“I know…”
If you’re also wearing a stressed-out face, the others might think you’re on the verge of breaking down and may start to get worried or concerned about you: “Don’t remind me, please… I’m at my limit already (save me).”
如果你剛好又一副壓力過大的表情,大部分人會以為你正處於崩潰的邊緣,並且開始擔心。這時,在他們眼中你心裡的OS:“請不要提醒我,拜託…我已經到極限了(救救我)。”

“I know!”
Maybe you just want to sound excited or with anticipation, but if there isn’t a hint of ‘brightness’, you might sound annoyed, or maybe worse, impatient: “Gosh! I’m not a child, okay? *eye roll*”
也許你只是想讓自己聽起來很興奮或很期待,但如果你沒有露出〝陽光〞的表情的話,你會聽起來像是覺得很生氣,或是不耐煩:“天哪! 我不是小孩子,好嗎?(翻白眼)”

“I know.”
You want to sound confident, but the flat tone used here can be translated to sarcasm and/or make you sound cocky: “Who are you to remind me? Don’t tell me how to do my job, I know what I’m doing.”
你只是很單純想聽起來很有自信,表示說自己沒忘記、很棒棒,但這裡若你的語氣很平淡的話,很可能被解釋為在諷刺別人,讓你聽起來很自大:“你是哪根蔥想提醒我?別指使我該怎麼做我的工作,我知道我在做什麼。”
二、職場英文:如何有禮貌的表達知道了? Conclusion
Well, then. How do we make sure that others will not misunderstand us when we say that? Below are a few substitutes you can use in place of the confusing phrase, just to be on the safe side:
好吧。那我們到底該如何確保其他人不會誤解我們的「I know」呢? 下面是一些替代的說法,為了安全起見,你可以用它們代替令人困惑的「I know」:
1. | I got it. 我知道了。 |
2. | Thanks for your reminder! 謝謝你的提醒! |
3. | Alrighty! 好DER! |
4. | Understood, thank you. 明白了,謝謝。 |
5. | Noted. 了解。 |
Once again, we are reminded of how we say things can affect what we mean deeply, and not just what we say. Make sure to practice these short phrases, guys!
再一次提醒,我們想表達的想法,也會被我們說話的語氣給深深影響,而不僅限於字面上的意思。使用前,千萬要記得多加練習這些英文短句喔!
